A well-established company in the consumer goods/manufacturing/distribution space is seeking an Accounting Specialist to join its accounting and finance team on a temp-to-hire basis. This role reports directly to the Director of Accounting & Finance and supports full-cycle accounting operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage full-cycle accounting functions including AP, AR, and General Ledger
- Prepare and post journal entries and maintain supporting documentation
- Perform monthly bank, credit card, and account reconciliations
- Assist with month-end and year-end close
- Generate monthly financial reports for leadership
- Support payroll processing and related reporting
- Maintain and reconcile inventory-related accounting
- Prepare and file sales tax and regulatory reports (multi-state)
- Assist with audits, budgets, and expense tracking
- Ensure compliance with GAAP, internal controls, and company policies
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and efficiency
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Operations and Supply Chain
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting (required)
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and general accounting principles
- Experience with large ERP systems
- Advanced Excel skills required
- Background in consumer goods, manufacturing, or distribution preferred
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- High level of integrity with ability to handle confidential information
- Professional written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- In-office availability required
